Cave Hotel

There is something quite surreal and mysterious about people who used to live in caves and places carved out of rocks back in the day. I've always been fascinated by them especially after seeing caves while traveling to Petra in Jordan. Three cheers for the Yunak Evleri Cave Hotel in Turkey, so quirky and interesting, this is going into my travel files. Would you stay here?

Google Pillow of 2010

Ever since I spotted this Google pillow in Paula Scher's home, I've wondered what each year's most top searched topics will be. Fascinating, huh, and if you want it all on a pillow you can find it here. Oh and did you realize today is 1/11/11!! A-wesome. Make a wish.

Top Five Friday : Favorites of the week...

These hand-dyed silk ribbons look so pretty on the monitor, I bet they are even more gorgeous in person. (via Full House)

This clip about growth and nature is in the Redwood forests by Jesse Rosten is beautifully filmed and inspiring... definitely worth a watch. There is a reverence and serenity about it.

I definitely want to order up some of these Magic Milk Straws that Joy talked about. What a great idea to flavor your milk in a fun way. (photo by Oh Joy)

I pinned this space a few weeks ago but can't stop thinking about it. See the whole space here. The mix of industrial and modern is perfection.

If you ski or board you will appreciate this tilt-shift Whistler Blackcomb video clip even more, it is quite darn amazing to see the action around the slopes in this style. (via fubiz)

I also write for the Family Style section of Babble and here are five of my posts from this week where I talk about...

Five spring trends that come back every year
The new Mac App Store
The prettiest set of Parisian puzzles

Georgia on my mind...

Atlanta Home
Atlanta Home

Atlanta Home

My husband and I talked about our favorite places throughout the country that we would want to live in last night and after seeing this beauty, Georgia is being added to my list. Well, Savannah is already on my short list (for the states) but still ... isn't this home dreamy! Couple this with some southern hospitality, dripping trees, and some fresh peach pie and I'm there.

What about you? Have you ever daydreamed about places around the country/world you would live? What are your top three? I would love to hear about them.

This home is owned by Derek & Carolyn Lowe, Derek plays for the Atlanta Braves. It is designed by architect D. Stanley Dixon and designer Betty Burgess and shared in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. Photos are by Erica George Dines. See more photos here.

Dreamy Kitchen

Dreamy Kitchen

There are so many things about this kitchen that I am enchanted by. It pretty much has my favorite elements all put together -- the dark hardwood floors, white marble countertops, farm sink, a window to look out of while doing dishes, nice colored backsplash and more. I'm putting this one on the tippity top of my favorite kitchen lists fo' sure. It is fun to daydream...

Stone House

Stone House
Stone House

Check out this stone house that looks like it is straight out of the Flintstones! It is nestled in the mountains of Fafe, Portugal. My daughter even walked by saying, "That is sooo cool, I want a house like that." I wonder what it looks like on the inside? (via archdaily)

Capital Kitchen

Capital Kitchen
Capital Kitchen2

Flipping through an Australian magazine the other day, I came across Capital Kitchen out of Melbourne and it was love at first sight. I enjoy the combo of rustic and industrial modern elements and was very surprised to find out this place is located within a shopping center. What a fantastic place this would be to grab a bite to eat and peruse for some pretty housewares.

After a bit of research, I found out this lovely place was designed by Australian based interior design firm Mim Design and you can see even more photos here. It also looks like they have designed a second location.

Inspired by Industrial

I often like a little industrial element in a space to give it a little pop. These pieces are fantastic and you can find them all at Pedlars.
