my favourite artist: holly farrell

It has been a busy blooming week! On Wednesday we designed and set up a huge event for The University of Ottawa at the Art Gallery of Ontario - The Distinguished Canadian Leadership Awards! A wonderful gala evening that paid tribute to some University of Ottawa alumni, including Michael Burgess {we were lucky enough to catch a wonderful sound check performance during setup}, Rick Mercer, and astronaut Julie Payette. We will be posting some photos soon. It turned out marvelously!

In the meantime, I wanted to share with you one of my favourite Toronto artists, Holly Farrell. I am on her mailing list and just received an emailer regarding a new exhibition of hers. Take a peek at her lovely paintings - realistic portrayals of common, everyday objects with a vintage twist in fresh and bright colours. So simple yet so sweet! living artfully & artful events

So, remember just this past summer when all of The Bay's commericals would come on the telly, with their new main slogan "Live Artfully"? This certainly caught my attention, all those glorious drips of paint, and I've been thinking about it ever since. First of all, I think this is a darn good slogan, if you ask me, and I sure do wish I had thought of it first! I wondered to myself, as you are probably wondering, what does "artful" really mean? It seems rather vague, no?
