Pom-Poms and Felt Balls

When I see people creating magic with fun little poof balls like pom-poms and felt balls I get totally jazzed. Remember the last few posts about these (here and here)? If you are wanting to get your craft on to make something like these, check out the pom-pom tutorial (via Full House) and Jordan's DIY felt ball garland.

Advent Calendars

I look forward to bringing out our advent calendar every year, although we didn't get ours out until today, there is still time to create your own if you are up for it. Here are some fresh DIY ideas that I recently saw that have my wheels turning for next year. They are both incredibly simple and lovely! The first one is my sister-in-law who made a Tree Advent Calendar out of paint chips, and the second one is an Advent box calendar by Sally from Shim+ Sons. Aren't they both genius ideas? I love Sally's idea of having a surprise along with a family activity in each box everyday! Impressive.

See previous Advent calendars I've posted here.

project: winter love

As mentioned, I am trying to make the most of winter instead of wallowing in SAD and counting the days until t-shirt weather arrives! I do live in Canada afterall, and since meeting with Sophie yesterday {a brand new Toronto-ite fresh from Australia} I could see her enthusiasm for the snow as it was all so new and fun for her. Hence Project: Winter Love.

I drove to Uxbridge this morning and on the way took some pics. Surprisingly, these monochromatic photos are not black and white photos at all - they are in full colour! But despite the lack of colour in the landscape, I could see how lovely it really is - how the sky almost blends with the snow, and how the tree branches are so beautifully coated. I am actually excited to take some more winter photos with my new eyes, and participate in some more Project: Winter Love activities. Are you in?

what a door

On our way to drop off a Christmas present to our dear friend Pauline, Shayna Bloomer and I, as always, couldn't help but stop and marvel at her door. Oh what a fantastical door she has at her house - it's like the most solid, antique-looking door - the stuff we read about in fairy tales! It's like an enchanted forest Hansel and Gretel door...although with lots of love behind it...no scary ovens to bake kids in!
