bring on the weekend

Have you ever had one of those weeks where nothing worked? This week was like that for me - my hard drive died and my computer didn't work. My bank account didn't work. My phone didn't work, and Canada Post didn't work {they lost one of my packages in the mail}. And then I burnt myself making soup. Bullocks!

I for one am glad this week is over. And this beautiful wedding photographed by Jose Villa is making me feel a whole lot better! The simple and elegant decor, the photography...it has taken me to a land far away from multiple trips to the Apple store and lost packages. I hope its beauty takes some of your week's stresses away too. Bring on the weekend! Zen...zen... {found via Design Sponge}

Wooden Sticks Wedding Show

inBloom has been asked by Wooden Sticks, located in Uxbridge, to decorate their tented wedding pavilion for their 1st Annual "How to Plan a Wedding" Show. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous there - just take a look at the pics above! We can't wait to sink our teeth into decorating the tent - it's like a blank canvas ready for our imaginations to take over. We're thinking something very natural, green and branchy. Come and check it out on April 5th at 11am - 5pm. There's going to be a fashion show, amazing speakers, and some tasty treats. And of course, yours truly will be there too! {Pics above from Wooden Sticks.}

paper nerd: in love with origami cranes

I've mentioned previously that I am a 'paper nerd'. I'm not sure though, if I really drove home the extent of my nerdiness. I just love paper - any sort of paper - and could literally stare at swatches, colours, textures, and patterns for hours. I constantly ogle the loveliness on Paper Source and basically any paper store I can find. And I have oodles of paper hanging in my office that I don't actually know what to do with! They are just hanging there looking pretty and making me happy.

Anyway, I've had a strange fascination with paper origami
cranes lately, and I wondered what cool decorative things could be made with these beautiful folded creations.
This glorious paper crane mobile was spotted in a home on The Selby.

How about using them as place cards holders? {top via Julie Mikos, bottom via Project Wedding}

And check out this gorgeous use of paper cranes at Yuli and Keith's wedding {via Robert Sukrachand}.

According to an ancient Japanese legend, anyone who folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish...better start folding! Have a great weekend Bloomers...

cotton

Last week, Joelle and I took a trip to Hofland, and there we had a chance to see AND buy my "flower muse" of the moment ... cotton. Yes, cotton! I sure do think cotton is the coolest looking plant ever, and now it holds a special little place on my shelf. Did you know that it looks like this when it grows? It is literally just poofs of fluffy cotton balls on a stem! These poofs, my friends, become your sweaters, your t-shirts, your undies, your pjs, your sheets...Apparently they require lots of sunshine and water to grow, and with water resources getting tighter around the parts of the world that produce it, our dear cotton gets more and more endangered. So, hey, when you get into bed tonight and sigh was satisfaction about how soft your sheets feel against your skin, take a moment, on behalf of inBloom, to remember how lovely it looked even on the stick!
