evolution of the house part 2: the inside

Alas, here's what is inside the walls of our new house. It's a blank canvas just waiting to be decorated! Can't wait to get my hands on it. Keep in mind our potential colour schemes. We're definitely leaning towards the blue one - it's much brighter!

evolution of our new house: the outside

Craigger and I snuck into our new house yesterday to check on the status. We have walls, we have heat, we have bathtubs. Bloomers, it's a real house now. And marvy! I wish I could move right now. Tomorrow, I will show you the house on the inside thus far (takes a while to stitch those together!), but today, have a look at the evolution of building over the last 2 years! Funny that the bulk of the work was done between Nov 17th and Nov 28th, 2009. When they want it to, they can sure put it up quickly no? Insides tomorrow...

and then there were bricks

All the other blocks on our street are red bricked. While I like the red, it secretly excites me that ours is the ONLY orange-y coloured bricks on the street. Yay!

Bloomies and Blooms, my house has bricks. It has windows and doors too. And shingles. It's not finished my any means, but I'm very excited that I will have a space that the big bad wolf can't blow down. So here's a bit of my inspiration, and was wondering if you'd like to weigh in on some of the decisions? Craigger came home with a business card one day, and said "I like these colours". They were beautiful, and we thought, hey, I think they would be gorgeous in our house - especially throughout our bottom floor (aka dining room, kitchen and living room). So we went to the paint store, fell in love with Ralph Lauren paints (yes, I know expensive but I'm allowed to dream), and matched up some combinations. BUT THEN, we also fell in love with a pomegranate red in addition to the blue. But we don't want to use both. So we're deciding between the two for our bottom floor, and I think I might know which one I'll go with, but I want to hear your thoughts first!!

what is your favourite combo for our bottom floor?

...so, the piano could be blue, like my initial inspiration (remember my blog post?? pic from Snazzy Jazzy)...

...or, RED like this super awesome piano I saw in Martha Stewart Weddings mag...

My friend Tahlia, who luckily understands my desparate need for a coloured piano, found me this piano that's on sale for $40!! I am going to see it on Thursday with a piano tuner to see if it actually works (so my future kiddies can learn on it in addition to it looking pretty) or if it's actually garbage. If it works, I think it's a good candidate for painting either blue or red, no?! Cross your fingers for me...

new house: grey with mustard?

I got a very exciting call from our house developer today. I am to come in next week and finalize my colour choices, as the builders are expected to begin building in only one or two weeks. Yay! I really WILL have a house one day and can move out this little closet I've been living in for 2 years! Now, I've told you all before that I'd like to go very neutral and minimal - I need a space that will allow for the de-cluttering of the mind. No need for lots of stuff! I liked the idea of the plainest whitest walls and dark wood floors ... but then again, lately my mind is going to greys as well, especially for the upstairs. I just love grey right now, and especially love it when mixed with yellow or mustard - kind of like Joelle and my bridesmaids dresses for the circus wedding looked! Here are some of my favourite pics of late ... pics 1,2, 4 from Anne Sage and pic 3 from inBloom Studio's blog via House and Home magazine.

more new house inspiration

So, I've had a few people ask about the status of my new house...and the the status is (drumroll please)...a bobcat! Ground hasn't been broken yet, but hey, the laneways have all been put in and the fire hydrants are ready to go! I'm still dreamin' though about decor - here are some of my latest inspirations for our bedroom, living room, kitchen and office...

I loved this pic from Domino Magazine's last (sniff sniff) March 2009 issue - in their "Outfit to Room Transformations" article. Sorry about the crease in the middle, but this photo is no where to be found online and I had to scan it straight from my treasured mag!! I love almost everything about this room - the black windows again, the plain army green blanket, the brown leather chair and especially, the frond in the window!! Yummy!

This chandelier looks cool to me too, although my boyfriend thinks it looks like brillo pad!
