the pink concert {and i love my hubby's job}

My hubby P. works for a sports and entertainment company in Toronto which means plenty of last-minute free {or cheap} tickets to concerts and hockey games. Yippee! On Wednesday afternoon, I got the call that he could get four tickets to the Pink concert that night. And so, on the spur of the moment, the Bloomers and our friend Meredith headed to the concert, only to find that our seats were right at the side of the stage, within tattoo-view of Pink. Yippee #2! The concert was amazing and truly entertaining...and that girl has pipes! I think Pink is one of the very few pop singers who can actually really sing. And she is incredible live. Her version of the Bohemian Rhapsody was insane! Check out some of the pics - including Pink giving half of a peace sign. I didn't realize I captured this moment until I got home!

Rockin' Out at Feed the Future

My cousin Barry is on the board of the Canadian chapter of Blessings in a Backpack - a program that on Fridays, provides a backpack full of food for underprivileged children so that they have food to eat over the weekend. The children then bring their backpacks back to school on Mondays, and they get filled up by Friday again. Because of this program the kids have had better test scores, reading skills and improved health and attendance. Hilary Duff is a huge supporter of this cause.

On Tuesday night, Barry organized a rock concert in support of Blessings called Feed the Future, hosted by Tanya Kim at the Tattoo Rock Parlour. See the ticket and poster I designed for the event - I was so excited to see them plastered all over the walls! Barry's work band disORderly conduct {they work for law firm Ogilvy Renault...'OR'...get it?} along with two other bands played. It was amazing and P. and I rocked out! Yay Barry...great job! fun with Feist!

Last night at the very last minute, Melanie and I were lucky enough to get free tickets to the Feist concert {thanks Pete}! They were great seats - 6th row at the side - and it was a mesmerizing performance. Feist's songs are haunting and beautiful and mellow and delicious....her latest CD, The Reminder, is constantly on my playlist!

Just as a quirky touch to the concert {as if Feist isn't quirky enough already} she had 'shadow artists' projecting shadows with shape and light and images on a large screen, using a glorified overhead projector! The images were moved by hand and it was such an organic and whimsical touch that perfectly complemented the music. Last night at the very last minute, I was lucky enough to get free tickets to the Feist concert at the Air Canada Centre {thanks again to my husband Pete}! They were great seats - 6th row at the side - and it was a mesmerizing performance. Somehow calming and upbeat and joyous at the same time. I am in love with all of Feist's songs and listen to her latest CD, The Reminder, constantly. It is so ethereal, artistic, soothing, dark and light.

My favourite song is Mushaboom...the music and lyrics feel so cozy to me and conjures up images of a future life with a houseful of kids running around a house in a forest with a huge garden and crazy art projects all over the place, 'collecting the moments one by one'...love this Canadian gal.
