holiday decor that doesn't scare me

So, with Thanksgiving over and out of the way, and with Chanuka and Christmas fast approaching, us Bloomers have already started thinking about our holiday decor plans.

I really have an aversion {bordering on fear} of anything red and velvety with bows and santa ringlets. So luckily
I was able to find these loverly, modern holiday decor inspirations that got me all excited! These are much more up my alley - and they could work for either holiday depending on what you celebrate {or in my case, what side of the family I'm celebrating with that particular night!} All you gotta do is substitute a Star of David for a wreath and voila!

Below are yummy nature-y design that would look nice year round really! I like that it doesn't scream out HOLIDAY in an obnoxious and frightening way. And not a ringlet in sight either! I found these on the Better Homes and Gardens site.

I'm not sure where I found this picture but I do think it is absolutely beautiful! I wonder how much all those light fixtures cost?! And look how each seat has a personal furry blanket to keep you cozy! I would just hope mine was a faux fur otherwise I might gag a little bit...just a little. Can someone hire us to create this for your holiday party? I so want a reason to make this happen!!

And of course Amy Butler would come up with some mouth-watering eye candy for the holiday! These pics were found on Apartment Therapy.

modern bathtubs

Take a look at some of these cool modern bathtubs I found posted on the blog, Modest. As a new homebuyer, I can appreciate how awesome it would be to get a tub that's this funky - imagine splish splashing away in these? Now THAT's my idea of appreciating art . Definitely a good way to get inspired.

It seems to me that the topic of menorahs keep coming up lately in conversation! First with my friend Carly over lunch (she loves old ornate menorahs), and then with Shayna Bloomer the other day (she likes modern menorahs). Finding a nice menorah is NOT an easy feat, we've decided. Especially one to match your home! I personally like any menorah that is different and makes a statement either way, whether old and ornate and modern and sleek. Look at some of the different menorahs we've found! Happy Chanukah!!

real wedding: julia + iain

Oh, what a beautiful wedding was Julia + Iain's. Using the colour palette of marigold and pewter, Julia and Iain asked inBloom to combine modern, vintage and Scottish elements for their autumn wedding at McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg. Not only was it a gorgeous wedding, but take a look at the couple themselves! Is Julia not the most beautiful bride you've ever seen? I think someone could have a back-up career as a bridal magazine model if you ask my opinion. Take a look at some of the details of Iain + Julia's wedding below {photos by Jocelyn Fisher Photography}. There are more pics on our gallery on our new website at www.inbloomeventdesign.com.
