Lyndsey + Brody's Wedding

This weekend, inBloom completed their 7th wedding in oh about 10 weeks. This one was at Wooden Sticks for Lyndsey and Brody. The colour scheme was chocolate brown, tiffany blue and just a wee tiny bit of pink. The bride wanted it to feel modern and up-scale, but still natural and organic. Speaking of the bride, Lyndsey was so beautiful!! Man she can work a wedding dress, that's for sure. We had such a great time doing this for Lyndsey and Brody...congratulations Mr. and Mrs LaBuick!
The colour scheme was chocolate brown and tiffany blue...

...custom designed menus and placecards had a simple floral design on them to add to the table's organic feel...

Lyndsey bought flip flops for all her guests...cute!

We had never done an escort board like this before but we are glad we tried it out...it was really cool!

...there were candles inside of each vase...here's what it looked like all lit up as nighttime approached...purty

The bride's bouquet...this was a brown orchid and was really cool...not sure why it looks so red in the picture!

the tables again...we really worked the white chair covers to try and hide them with the brown chair sashes!

the head table

Lyndsey got m&m's inscribed with their names and wedding date, and she them in little boxes and bags for everyone...yummmy

...AND Lyndsey also got bubbles for everyone to blow on the dance floor (she was busy!)...inBloom couldn't resist tying a matching ribbon around all of them! We do like a good ribbon...

the gorgeous couple...guests signed the matting on this pic...soon to be replaced with their wedding pic!

I snapped this cute pic quickly as the bride and her bridesmaids were walking towards the venue. They looked so beautiful. But seriously, Lyndsey really looked stunning - told you she can work a wedding dress! Loved her hair colour too (she's a hairdresser!)...hopefully she'll let us post a close up when she gets her professional photos!

Triangles

I’m not sure why I’ve fallen so hard for the new triangle trend, it’s not like it’s a new concept. Maybe it’s because it reminds me that I was actually good at one type of math, geometry. Or another theory that’s probably more accurate, it reminds me of my love of pennant flags. Yeah, that’s probably it. Parties over math.

The weekend, briefly

The summer we never had decided to show up this weekend. We spent Saturday evening downtown, participating in the LA Craft Beer Crawl. Luckily it had cooled down enough that it was perfect for leisurely walking. They gave us each 6 ounce tasting glasses and a map of the participating bars and we wandered around sampling for the whole evening. You never know how these events will turn out, but this one was mellow and perfect - no crazy lines or frenzied atmosphere.

Hello, I’m Melanie Blodgett. I’m the author of You Are My Fave and a party planner to the stars. And by stars I mean my family members. I’m pretty sure my mom is my biggest fan. I absolutely hate it when in job interviews they ask you to describe yourself. Am I a go-getter who works well in groups? Not really. Sometimes I want to make up things about myself like that I was Miss Montana (kind of believable, they’re never that attractive) or that I toured with Lord of the Dance (not believable, don’t look Irish or have muscular enough calves). But the facts are this: I’m married to Ryan who’s just finishing law school, we live in Denver in a small apartment with gross carpet, I’m the youngest of seven girls and I strive to quote 30 Rock at least a few times a day. I love my birthday, babies, magazines, high waisted skirts, board game victory dances, Chex muddy buddies and cake stands. My official party business is launching at the end of the month and in the mean time I visit Target for a living. Thank you Rachel for taking a chance on me.

Bearcats and Tractors

Finally FALL! Good Morning Frank Here...After temperatures in the 90's last week, our weather matched the calendar with crisp mornings and sunny and mild afternoons. On Saturday, after a late breakfast Mr. Benson and I took a nice long walk from Covington over the newly painted Roebling Suspension Bridge. The city skyline looked fantastic and I noticed a huge Bearcat that was inflated on top of the old National City Bank building, it soared above our city which seemed to be invaded Saturday morning by OU fans in town for the game. While they were the rivals it was great to see so many new faces and tourists enjoying everything our city has to offer. Later that afternoon I met up with anchor and reporter Dan Wells and his family at the Goetz Family Farm in Cold Spring. It was the annual tractor show where restored John Dear Tractors from years gone by were on display. Dan, took his daughters Kate and Alie on a hayride, in fact over 400 people showed up on the sunny afternoon. Just the beginning of the fall season. Stay with us and the FOX19 Morning News and The FOX19 News Morning Xtra at 9am for fall festivals and fun ideas for your and your family.

art gallery party

I think this has been circling around the blog world and I hate to be a copy cat but it is too adorable not to share! One Charming Party, a children's party designer from Salt Lake City has a tutorial posted on her site of how to achieve this amazing Art Gallery Party theme for kids! Or adults...I want one!!! I can't get over all the fabulous bright colours and how it is modern and hip, not your typical kid style party yet still totally kid friendly!

Happy Weekend!!

Friday flowers(ish)

This might be the last of my summer basil.

I'm going to see if I can get a second crop. I've had these sprigs sitting in water for a couple weeks (I change the water every couple days) to get them to sprout.

It's working! Once the roots seem developed enough I'm going to pull out the old basil plant and put these in. It might be too cold for them soon, but since all my gardening efforts are completely inept, I might as well try it.
